Why We Do What We Do?
Subsidized housing provides a stable platform for growth, but it is not enough to break the cycle of generational poverty. Rather, Vancouver Housing Authority (VHA) believes subsidized housing is just the beginning of the journey toward self-reliance. Stable, subsidized housing combined with proper support and training increases employability and income. Ultimately it can culminate in a life free from government subsidy for VHA families and future generations to come. Even for residents unlikely to leave subsidized housing, increased employment and income brings independence, self respect, and improved quality of life. In addition, increased resident income lowers VHA subsidies allowing the agency increased resources to meet our mission and commitment to Clark County citizens.
